There’s something really special about the little things we say to our tamariki before they go to sleep.

A simple pō mārie can become part of their bedtime routine, a gentle reminder that they are loved, safe and cared for as they drift off to sleep.

I love the idea of bringing more of these little phrases into our whare. Not making te reo something we only use at certain times, but letting it become part of the everyday moments that already matter so much.

Because our tamariki are listening. They’re learning from the words we use, the way we speak to them and the little rituals we create at home.

And maybe one day, these will be the words they say to their own babies.

That’s the beauty of normalising te reo in our whare. It can be as simple as wishing our little ones a peaceful night, filled with so much love.
